We are saddened to hear of Roger`s Haslam passing. Roger was an excellent swimmer and swimming coach and was a natural to take charge of the newly formed surf lifesaving club at Atlantic College. He soon became the first SLSA Examiner in Wales and played a vital part in the development of surf lifesaving in the college and in the emerging clubs along the South Wales coast.
It is a tribute to him that the development of surf lifesaving in the College and local clubs survived his departure from the college to take up a promoted post in the north of England.
He was respected, not only in Wales but also in the Southwest of England, the stronghold of surf lifesaving at the time. He was a first class instructor, examiner and competition judge.
Roger was also a top class Physics teacher and Head of Department and was hugely respected member of staff at Atlantic College.
WE send our condolences to Roger`s family.
